I’m originally from Ukraine, now based in Canada. My journey in photography started with a film camera and a few good friends who didn’t mind being in the frame. I spent years photographing street life, concerts, everyday moments — anything that felt real and full of life. I wasn’t chasing perfection. I was learning to see.

Later, I started getting freelance work — small jobs, portraits, events, even some product photography. I kept learning with every shoot. Over time, I also worked as a photojournalist, covering local stories, people, and places. Some of that work made it into exhibitions and won awards back home. But for me, it was about refining my eye and learning to capture truth, not just images.

Nick Shlykov Photography grew out of all of that — and at the foundation of everything is G523 Studio. The name comes from a garage back home — number 523 — where we built things from nothing. No budget, just energy, ideas, and friends. The “G” once stood for our creative crew. Now it stands for the garage — and the belief that great things can start small.

Today, Nick Shlykov Photography focuses on headshots, portraits, proposals, and family stories. We keep it honest and simple. I’ll guide you when needed — or step back and let the moment happen. I believe the best photos don’t just show how it looked — they show how it felt.

Behind the scenes, you’ll also meet Mariia — my wife and my assistant. Most of the time, when you reach out, you’ll be speaking with her first. She helps with scheduling, prep, and making sure everything feels clear, calm, and taken care of before we even pick up the camera.

G523 Studio is more than just a name. It’s the umbrella for everything we build — photography, creative work, and future projects still taking shape. Nick Shlykov Photography is simply our focus right now: the most active, most developed direction — and the work we’re here to deliver today.
