Shooting with off-camera flash at sunset is always a race.
You have maybe 10–15 minutes before the sunset sky above the city turns completely dark. In that time, you need to balance the flash with the available light—so the portrait doesn’t look like it was cut out of a magazine and pasted onto the background, while still keeping the city from disappearing into darkness.
Then there’s the constant wind by the water, just waiting for the perfect moment to knock over your light stand and softbox.
In the final images, everything looks calm, dimensional, and atmospheric. But behind that result is always a little chaos: adjusting flash power on the fly, chasing the balance, and hoping the sun slows down for just a couple more minutes.
I love that contrast. I love this light.

A good portrait looks like it took a fraction of a second. Technically, it did - the shutter clicked at 1/200s.
But everything that happens before that click determines whether you use that photo on LinkedIn or hide it in a folder forever.

Whenever you’re in front of a camera – headshots, personal branding, or everyday portraits – your hands quietly say a lot about your confidence. Here are three small habits worth noticing.
1. Hiding your fingers
Thumbs poking out of your pockets can look forced or overly guarded.
Try tucking your thumbs in and letting your relaxed fingers show slightly outside. It feels more natural and adds texture to the pose.
2. Holding your wrist
Gripping your own wrist is a subconscious self-soothing gesture – we hold onto ourselves when we feel unsure.
Instead, rest your hands on something nearby, like a table or chair, or let them hang loosely with a slight bend at the elbow.
3. Tense elbows
Elbows pressed tightly to your sides make your posture look smaller and your shoulders rise.
Leave a small gap – just 3–5 cm – between your elbows and your waist for a more relaxed, open silhouette.
Most people feel a little stiff in front of the camera at first, and that’s completely normal. A few small adjustments like these can make a big difference in how natural and confident you look in your photos. ☕️

I’ve been diving deep into personality archetypes in creativity, and it’s shifted my entire workflow. I realized why some clients bloom under specific instructions while others find them stifling.
My strength as a photographer is structure. My inner “Architect” loves control: perfect lighting schemes, precise geometry, and predictable, top-tier results. I handle the technical complexity so you don’t have to. But the art happens when I adapt that structure to you.
I generally see two types of energy on set:

You thrive when we have a clear plan, detailed references, and direct guidance: where to place your hands, where to look, how to shift your weight. When the process is transparent, you feel secure—and that’s when you shine.
2️⃣ The Visionary (Emotion & Vibe) Rigid lists of poses feel like a cage to you. You need creative flow. The perfect shoot involves your favorite music, a conversation, and the freedom to move naturally. My job is to step back, catch the candid moments, and document your true emotion in motion.

A strange feeling — photographing yourself.
